Manchester City are set to stage a last-ditch attempt to get Leroy Sane to remain at the Etihad, by holding talks with the Germany international.

Sane is said to have grown disillusioned after falling down the pecking order and often finding himself out of Pep Guardiola’s starting XI.

The 23-year-old has emerged as a transfer target for German giants Bayern Munich, who are keen to bring him back to the Bundesliga and provide firepower on the flanks to replace the departing Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.

City are wary of Sane deciding to depart Manchester and will make a last-gasp attempt to get him to stay, according to reports in the Sun.

It is claimed that City are keen to keep Sane on their books, though the pacey winger now plays second fiddle to the likes of Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva.

During Guardiola’s first title win of the 2017-18 season Sane was a stand-out player on the flank, and won the PFA Young Player of the Season.

Since the rise of Silva, following his switch from Monaco and a bedding-in period, Sane has found first-team appearances limited.

The Sun report City may be persuading to sell if Bayern, or any other bidding club, can arrive with an offer just shy of £90million.

Since joining City in 2016 for £37m, Sane has made 89 league appearances, scoring 25 goals and providing 28 assists along the way.

Bayern’s determination to land Sane may increase should they be unable to lure Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea.

The England youngster remains sidelined with a ruptured achilles sustained at the end of the season, though is yet to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge.

Bayern had multiple bids rejected for the 18-year-old in January, though the player will be available for free next summer if he does not commit to a new deal with the Blues.

Chelsea are understood to have offered the youngster the No 10 shirt of Eden Hazard, who is set to depart for Real Madrid in the coming weeks.
