Britain's Prime Minister Sunak calls surprise general election | DW News

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has called a surprise election for the 4th of July – months earlier than expected. Sunak and his Conservatives are trailing badly in opinion polls, and most observers had expected him to delay the vote to give his party a chance to make up ground. But the prime minister said “now is the moment for Britain to choose its future.”
