China has attacked a bill going through US Congress that could see TikTok banned nationwide, accusing it of “unjustly” behaving like a “bandit”.

The app is owned by Chinese company ByteDance, a Beijing-based firm registered in the Cayman Islands.

While the bill passed overwhelmingly in the vote, it still needs to clear the Senate – but President Joe Biden says he will sign it if it passes Congress.
