Houthi Attack Makes Crew Abandon Ship, US Hits First Houthi Underwater Drone, Al-Aqsa Ramadan Ban?

British maritime security firm Ambrey said a UK-registered cargo ship was under attack in the Bab al-Mandab Strait off Yemen on February 18. The UK Maritime Trade Operations agency (UKMTO) said “military authorities report crew have abandoned the vessel”. US forces in the Red Sea conducted “five self-defence strikes” to foil attacks by the Yemen-based Houthi rebel group, the US Central Command said. The five strikes included targeting “the first observed Houthi employment of a UUV (unmanned underwater vessel) since attacks began” in October. Israeli PM Netanyahu has reportedly agreed with far-right minister Itamar Ben Gvir to limit the entry of Palestinians to Al Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan. The Shin Bet security agency reportedly opposed Ben Gvir, saying no curbs should be placed on Arab Israelis, but the police backed the move. Norway has agreed to help transfer frozen tax funds earmarked for the Palestinian Authority that Israel has been withholding from Ramallah.
