With more than 7,000 Bangladeshi police infected with the new coronavirus, officials are hoping yoga will boost immunity and relieve stress for officers.

On Monday (June 15), over 200 police officers in the capital of Dhaka attended a yoga session that according to program organiser and assistant police commissioner Rajan Shaha, will strengthen officers’ mental strength “so that they can do their job with a health mind.”

This was the first-ever yoga session held for Dhaka police since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak. The Dhaka police plan to make yoga sessions routine for its officers, who are serving on the frontline of the country’s battle against the new coronavirus.

As of Sunday (June 14), there were 7359 confirmed COVID-19 cases within the Bangladesh police force, 23 deaths, according to official police data.
