Scenes of panic at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade as gunfire erupted at the end of the event. At least one person was killed and several were injured, including children. Shots were heard outside the city’s Union Station where thousands had gathered to celebrate their team’s win. Police said they detained three suspects and are investigating the motive. Over 800 officers had been deployed to secure the victory rally. US President Joe Biden said the shooting ‘cuts deep in the American soul’.
