Cease-fire talks continue amid warnings on internally displaced Palestinians | DW News

A Hamas delegation is in Cairo for more talks with US, Egyptian, and Qatari mediators on a cease-fire in Gaza. Egyptian state media has said that significant progress is being made. Hamas is considered a terrorist organization by Germany, the US, and several other countries.

But a key stumbling block remains: Israel’s plans to attack the southern Gazan city of Rafah. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly vowed to assault Hamas forces in the city whether or not a truce is reached. That’s despite repeated warnings from the US, UN, and others that an attack would spell disaster for the more than one million Palestinians taking refuge there.
