"Welcome PKK Ban But..." Erdogan Says Turkey-Iraq Joint Action Against Kurd Separatists Key To Ties

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Iraq on April 22 for his first official visit since 2011. Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani greeted Erdogan with a 21-gun salute after he landed at the Baghdad international airport. The Turkish leader also met with Iraqi President Abdel Latif Rashid in Baghdad. Turkey and Iraq signed a strategic agreement for cooperation in “security, energy and the economy”, al-Sudani said. Erdogan said he discussed with Iraqi leaders “common steps that we can take against terror organization PKK and its extensions who have been targeting Turkey from Iraqi soil.”
