Former US president Donald Trump has proposed a plan to end the Ukraine war by pressuring the Zelensky government to give up territory. Donald Trump’s proposal consists of pushing Kyiv to cede Crimea and the Donbas border region to Russia, according to the Washington Post.
Trump has privately said that he thinks both Russia and Ukraine “want to save face, they want a way out,” according to the Washington Post. According to sources cited by WaPo, Trump said people in parts of Ukraine would be okay with being part of Russia.
Trump’s stand puts him at odds with the Ukrainian leadership who have vehemently refused to cede any land in the conflict.
