How thousands of Nepalese are being lured to Russia | DW News

As Ukraine passes a new law allowing it to call up tens of thousands of additional soldiers for its war effort, Russia is also trying to replenish its forces – and is increasingly looking abroad for its recruits. Thousands of Nepalese have been lured by Russian recruiters to fight in Ukraine. They’re promised cash and a fast-track to Russian citizenship, but they’re often sent to the frontline with little to no training. Their hopes for a better life often end in tragedy. DW Correspondent Adil Bhat reports from the Nepalese capital Kathmandu, followed by some analysis of Moscow’s recruiting practices by military analyst Frank Ledwidge.
