Putin Milks Ukraine Gains, Russian Economic Growth As Opposition Missing In Presidential Polls

Vladimir Putin will tighten his grip on power until at least 2030 with an expected landslide win in Russia’s presidential elections this week. Russia’s economy has largely beat Western sanctions and its battlefield fortunes in Ukraine have dramatically changed in recent months. Any opposition figures who could have challenged Putin are either in prison or exiled abroad. In his annual address to Russians, Putin highlighted the economy’s resilience in the face of bruising Western sanctions.
