Haiti gangs target international airport after mass jailbreak | BBC News

Haiti’s government has declared a 72-hour state of emergency, after armed gangs stormed a major prison in the capital city.

Gang leaders of demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry, whose whereabouts are unclear after travelling to Kenya for talks.

It has been reported that the gangs have also attempted to gain access to the international airport in Port-au-Prince, with violent confrontations taking place.

At least 12 people were killed and about 3,700 prisoners escaped in Sunday’s jailbreak.
