In a tragic incident in Indonesia’s West Java province, a collision between two commuter trains has resulted in the loss of four lives and left 28 individuals injured. The crash unfolded near Bandung, the provincial capital, when a long-distance train originating from Surabaya collided with a commuter train. Emergency crews are actively engaged in rescue operations, striving to free at least two individuals still trapped amidst the mangled wreckage.
The casualties include three train staff members: the driver and assistant on the commuter train and a steward on the express train. Regional spokesperson Ibrahim Tompo of West Java police provided this information. Among the 478 passengers on board the trains during the collision, rescuers are diligently assessing the situation to extricate two individuals found lodged between the carriages, their condition unknown.
