Are Iceland's volcano tourists putting themselves and emergency crews in danger? | DW News

Despite slowing down in its power, a volcano in Iceland continues to erupt. Scientists say it’s hard to predict how long it will last, adding that the eruption could continue for weeks or even months. This could affect the air quality in the area near the Reykjanes Peninsula. Residents’ property could also be in danger, if lava continues to flow further and closer to the residential areas. The area has long been evacuated. But some tourists are trying to get up close, putting not only their lives at risk, but also the lives of emergency crews, who have to rescue them. Experts say new eruptions can quickly put people in harm’s way.
