UN monitors said Israeli troops detained men and boys from the age of 15 in a school-turned-shelter in northern Gaza. An Israeli government spokesperson said that authorities were questioning the detainees to determine their affiliation with Hamas. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that the Palestinian Authority (PA) is not the solution to post-war governance of Gaza. This was in response to the PA Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh’s earlier comments. He said that the preferred outcome of the war would be for Hamas to become a junior partner under the Palestinian Liberation Organisation.
