BIDEN LAYS OUT ECONOMIC PLANS TO COMBAT SYSTEM RACISM: Presumed Democratic nominee Joe Biden delivers remarks on dismantling systemic racism within the United States. This is the fourth and final pillar of his ‘Build Back Better’ economic vision for the country in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Biden’s plan looks to address racial wealth disparities across the U.S. and focus on a ‘historic effort to empower small business creation and expansion in economically disadvantaged areas— and particularly for Black, Latino, [Asian American and Pacific Islander] and Native American-owned businesses.’ It also looks to provide public colleges and universities, as well as private HBCUs, free tuition for families making less than $125,000 annually, which the Biden campaign estimates would affect up to 90% of Black, Latinx and Native American households.
