In US news and current events today, these protesters harassed Muslim children on a field trip. Middle schoolers met with lawmakers at the Kentucky legislature for ‘Muslim Day at the State Capitol,’ where they spoke about issues that impact them, like bullying.

Robert McCaw, the camera person challenging the protesters, said he was trying to distract the children from hearing them Kentucky House Speaker David Osborne (R) called the protesters’ actions ‘iInappropriate’ and ‘deeply offensive.’

Between 2016 and 2017, reported hate crime incidents surged, increasing nearly 17% and incidents remained at similar numbers in 2018. In 2018, Muslim people were involved in more than 14% of hate crimes motivated by religious bias.
