Sen. Cory Gardner (R. CO) advocated for corn growers and nannied a ram before going on to support policies that are tougher on abortion providers than on convicted rapists. Supergirl and Glee star Melissa Benoist explains how a man who really wants voters to know about that time he visited a wind farm came to oppose the ‘radical environmentalists’ behind the Green New Deal.

Even before heading to Congress, Cory Gardner has been attacking women’s rights. While serving in the Colorado State House, he tried to push through a strict abortion ban with not exceptions to rape and incest and punish doctors who perform abortions. The ACLU points out that Gardner’s bill would’ve made the doctor who performed the abortion serve more jail time than the actual rapist.

Cory Gardner also voted against the Paycheck Act and is backed by the NRA (the National Rifle Association) in a state that has suffered mass shootings like Columbine and Aurora.

Additionally, despite his rhetoric about being a Republican who supports clean energy, Gardner is a huge opponent of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal.

In a state that has becoming bluer and bluer, Gardner is already trying to run away from Trump in 2020 despite voting with the President Trump 90% of the time. This is who Cory Gardner really is.
