In the latest US news, former director of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and conservative economist Douglas Holtz-Eakin explained to members of Congress how immigrants and immigration helps raise all American wages. Since Donald Trump entered politics he has kept a hard line on illegal immigration and undocumented immigrants. This is based on the Republican party stance that immigrants will drain social security and take away jobs from people already here. This has led to President Trump, the White House and the department of homeland security’s policies on immigration including a desire to build the wall (a border wall) for more border security, ramping up the role of border patrol, and separating immigrant children from their families. But President Donald Trump’s xenophobia is likely based on an economic lie.
