These campaigners are fighting to change the voting age in the U.S. to 16. The lowering the voting age debate is nothing new but now we see the impact lowering the voting age to 16 can have. Cities close to D.C. such as Takoma Park and Hyattsville in Maryland, passed this several years ago and the results show that more young people turned out to vote than any other age group. These young votes, teenage votes, made up a larger percentage than other age groups of American voters.

Voting in the US is one of the fundamental rights given to American citizens, voting in America is a way to exercise our voices and be heard. Only time will tell if the voting age will be lowered to 16 across the nation.
