Assange lands in Australia after walking free from US court | DW News

Julian Assange is back home in Australia a free man after a plea deal with US authorities. His private jet landed at Canberra airport where he was welcomed by his wife Stella and his father. His freedom follows a two-hour court appearance before a judge in a US Pacific territory where he pleaded guilty to violating American laws. This marks an end to a 14 year long legal battle with the US government over leaked documents and classified military files which he published on his WikiLeaks platform.
