French President Emmanuel Macron Inaugurates Saint Denis-Pleyel Station Ahead Of Paris 2024 Olympics

French President Emmanuel Macron inaugurates the extension of metro line 14 in the Paris suburbs on June 24. This new line provides access to Orly airport and several Olympic sites, one month before the start of the Games.

The 28-kilometre-long line directly connects Saint-Denis, north of Paris, to Orly airport in the capital’s south. Saint-Denis hosts the Olympic village, the Stade de France for athletics and football events, and the Aquatics Center for diving, artistic swimming, and some water polo events.

Until now, Orly airport is only accessible from Paris by bus and train. The extended metro line has eight new stations and crosses 11 municipalities. By mid-2025, it will transport 1 million travellers per day, according to Paris’ RATP transport operator. The project costs 3.5 billion euros ($3.76 billion).
