Bereaved Palestinian father grieves for baby decapitated in Israeli attack on Rafah tent camp

Abid Al-Najar is struggling to cope with the loss of his wife and three children, killed in an Israeli attack on a displacement camp in Rafah. His daughter Huda dreamt of being a doctor, while his son Arkan aspired to be a pilot. Ahmed, just 18 months old, hadn’t yet had the chance to dream. Abid witnessed the devastating aftermath, finding Ahmed decapitated in the Israeli blast that killed 45 people. The family was in an Israeli-designated safe area when the attack occurred. Despite their grief, Abid and his two surviving sons keep Ahmed’s toys and clothes as bittersweet reminders of his short life.

Al Jazeera’s Camille Nedelec reports.
