Remains of rocket fell outside an elementary school in central Israel after a barrage of rockets fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel on May 26.

Children in the central Israeli city of Herzliya surrounded the shrapnel on the sidewalk just outside the school’s fence, while others examined dead birds that they said appeared on the ground after the rocket attack.

Hamas armed wing al-Qassam Brigades said it launched a “big missile” attack on Tel Aviv as the Israeli military sounded sirens in the central city warning of possible incoming rockets.

The attack signalled the Islamist faction was still able to fire long-range rockets despite more than seven months of devastating Israeli military offensive from the air and the ground
