The White House has thrown one of its biggest-ever state dinners – to honor the Kenyan president, William Ruto, who is on a state visit to the US. President Joe Biden hopes to further US interests – and counter growing Russian and Chinese influence in Kenya. Ruto’s three-day trip to Washington is the first state visit to the United States by an African leader in more than 15 years.
