The World Health Organization (WHO) on January 2 released footage of extensive damage at the Al-Amal hospital in Gaza following missile strikes, leaving it with debris lying in its corridors and missing walls.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS), which operates the hospital in Khan Younis and a training centre in the same building, attributed the attacks to Israeli forces and said at least five civilians, including a five-day-old infant, had been killed.

Ayadil Saparbekov, a team leader for health emergencies at the WHO, said the hospital sheltered over 14,000 internally displaced people and was struck twice on Tuesday,

Posting on social media platform X, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus condemned the attack on Al-Amal and said hospitals and health workers needed to be protected under international humanitarian law.
