‘I feel like I am in a dream’: Palestinian prisoner reunited with family

Shorouq Dwayyat, one of 39 Palestinian prisoners released by Israel on Saturday, has spoken of her mixed emotions after reuniting with her family in Jerusalem.

Dwayyat served half of a 16-year prison sentence over a 2015 stabbing attack that her family says she was unjustly held responsible for.

“I feel like I am in a dream, but I hope that the war on Gaza will stop as soon as possible,” she told Al Jazeera.

Israel has released 78 Palestinian prisoners in total, including 39 on Friday, as part of a four-day truce that has seen Hamas release 41 captives so far.
