China Says Warships In Middle East Not Linked To Israel-Hamas War

Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian on Thursday clarified the presence of six Chinese warships in the Middle East, stating that these vessels have nothing to do with the regional situation.

The statement was made in response to some media reports from the United States that six Chinese warships made a rare simultaneous appearance in the Middle East, amid the escalating Israel-Hamas conflict.

“As a matter of fact, these vessels constitute two Chinese naval task groups engaged in escort missions in the Gulf of Aden and waters off the coast of Somalia. They have nothing to do with the regional situation. We urge relevant parties to respect facts and refrain from unfounded speculation,” said Wu at a press conference.
