A funeral is being held in France for the teenager who was killed by a police officer during a traffic stop on Tuesday. A container truck has crashed at a busy intersection in western Kenya, killing at least 51 people. It happened in Landiani town in Kericho county. Dozens were seriously injured as the vehicle pounded into cars, trapping passengers in the wreckage. Police are investigating how the driver lost control and veered off the road.

At least 25 people, including three children, were killed in western India when a bus crashed and burst into flames. Police say the bus was traveling into the city of Buldhana when it hit a pole and overturned. Eight people were injured in the crash and have been taken to hospital.

In China, an expanded counter-espionage law goes into effect on Saturday. Critics say a broadened definition of espionage will raise concern over increased scrutiny among foreign businesses, academics and journalists. United States says the law will give Beijing grounds to access data held by US companies in China.

The leader of Hong Kong has warned against, what he calls, destructive forces engaging in soft resistance still lurking in the city. John Lee spoke on the 26th anniversary of the handover of the former British colony to China. Leaders in Beijing are accused of the one-country-two-systems agreement that guaranteed freedoms in the territory for fifty years.
