The EU’s Entry/Exit System (EES), a strict border control system for travelers entering and leaving the European Union, has sparked controversy as the EU is enforcing it more consistently. The impact is also being felt in the border region of Serbia, which is not a member of the European Union.
In the Serbian village of Nestin, residents often have to travel through a small section of Croatia to reach their work in Serbia, the villagers have staged protests to find a practical solution despite the EES.
