Mauritius is staring into a deepening political scandal, with its most powerful names entangled in corruption allegations. Navin Ramgoolam, now back in power, is accusing the former government of acting like the country was their personal estate. But his own past undercuts the attack as he was slapped with charges in 2015 for money laundering and obstruction of justice. Now the spotlight has turned to his rival, Pravind Jugnauth. Earlier this year, Jugnauth was arrested in a separate money laundering probe. Police recovered stacks of cash, luxury goods, and documents linking him directly to the crime from the homes of two suspects.
