Spain Train Disaster: 46 Reported Dead After Renfe And Iryo Trains Collide

At least 46 people have reportedly been killed after two high-speed trains collided near Urda in Spain’s Toledo province on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, according to Spanish media citing regional emergency service sources. Other reports have confirmed a lower initial death toll, and authorities are continuing to assess casualties.

The collision involved a Renfe AVE train and an Iryo train on the Madrid–Andalusia high-speed rail corridor. Two carriages derailed and reportedly fell down an embankment. Emergency teams rushed to the scene, while rail operator Adif suspended services between Madrid and Andalusia.

The cause of the collision is under investigation. The tragedy comes months after another deadly rail accident near Adamuz in January 2026.
