A Holi evening dispute in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar escalated into a fatal clash that left 26-year-old Tarun dead, triggered protests, led to multiple arrests, and resulted in demolition action against the accused family’s home.
Police say the incident began after a water balloon altercation between neighbouring families and is being investigated as murder. However, the accused family has presented a sharply different version of events, alleging prior tensions, self-defence, and procedural violations in the demolition of their house.
The case has also raised broader constitutional questions following the Supreme Court’s 2024 ruling mandating due process before demolitions.
