A 33-year-old woman in India died on Monday (May 18) after an elephant fell on her at the Dubare Elephant Camp in Karnataka state.
According to local media, two captive elephants at the camp started fighting while being bathed by mahouts in the morning, when visitors could feed and scrub the elephants as they bathed.
The woman, a visitor, was killed when one of the elephants lost its balance and fell on her.
The woman’s husband told local media they were posing for photos with their child when the incident happened. He managed to escape with the child and could be seen in videos trying to pull his wife out of the fray.
Karnataka’s Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment has ordered a detailed probe into the incident. #india #indianews
