Waffen-SS Soldier Became Israeli Army Officer

An SS man serving in the IDF? Sounds unlikely, but in one infamous case it is true. A WWII Waffen-SS veteran managed to enlist in the Israeli Army and even became an officer before spying against Israel for Colonel Nasser’s Egypt. This is the extraordinary story of Ulrich Schnaft AKA Captain ‘Gavriel Weissmann’.
