French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday fact-checked his US counterpart Donald Trump on aid for Ukraine as they met at the White House on the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion. During a joint press conference, Macron interrupted Trump when he claimed that Europe was merely loaning Ukraine money and would get it back. “No, in fact. To be frank, we paid. We paid 60 per cent of the total effort,” Macron said as he touched Trump’s arm to stop him mid-sentence.
