The federal NDP has introduced a new bill that would ban members of Parliament from crossing the floor — a.k.a. when MPs switch parties in between elections — without getting the green light from voters first.
The bill comes after five MPs from two different parties joined Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberals, giving him a majority government. Is it time for Canada to join the nearly 20 countries around the world that have banned floor-crossing — and what could that look like?
