It is one of the most famous images of the 20th century – a soldier raising the Soviet flag over the ruined Reichstag parliament building in Berlin, repressing the victory of Communism over Fascism. The story behind this image is fascinating – a tale of communist politics and multiple examples of heroism that resulted in a fake image presented to the world, and the snubbing of the real heroes of the story.
