The ICC faces an existential crisis under US sanctions | DW News

The Trump administration has branded the world’s top criminal court a “rogue” institution and trying to cripple its operations. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced sanctions on the International Criminal Court, stopping the court using US finances and technology. Germany and other European Union countries have thrown their support behind the court, setting up another rift with the Trump administration. What does this mean for the court’s existence, and for people around the world waiting for judgements on war crimes, genocide and crimes against humanity? DW speaks to Michael Lynk, Professor Emeritus of Law at Western University in Ontario, Canada.
