Afghanistan’s Taliban has issued a stern warning to Pakistan after peace talks in Turkey failed. Taliban said, “If war breaks out, we have the right to defend ourselves”, and that “Elders and youth of Afghanistan will rise to fight if a war breaks out.” Taliban blamed Pakistan’s “irresponsible and uncooperative attitude” for failed talks, adding that the country’s military and intelligence services are “deliberately sabotaging dialogue”. Meanwhile, Pakistan said that the onus to fulfil pledges to clamp down on terrorism is on Afghanistan. Islamabad accuses Afghanistan of backing Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which stages attacks in Pakistan. Peace talks in Turkey followed deadly border clashes between Pakistan and Taliban forces.
