A NASA space probe is due for a close encounter with Mars as it hurtles toward an asteroid. On Friday, the spacecraft Psyche will use the red planet’s gravity to gain speed and slingshot further into space. Psyche is on its way to a metal-rich asteroid of the same name, which scientists believe can reveal clues about Earth’s own core.
