The US government is expanding a programme encouraging undocumented migrants to return voluntarily to their home countries.
Many of those affected are Mexicans returning to communities in Mexico.
Those who agree to leave are offered financial assistance to support their return.
Authorities warn that refusal could lead to detention and long-term bans on re-entry.
For one Mexican family, daily life in the US became dominated by fear of ICE raids and sudden arrest.
They chose to leave to protect their children, only to face poverty, uncertainty and separation back in Mexico.
Their story lays bare the human toll of a policy described as voluntary.
