Russia and Ukraine exchanged 307 prisoners each on Saturday, following an agreement reached during recent talks in Istanbul, according to the Russian Defence Ministry.

The ministry stated that 307 Russian servicemen had “returned from Kyiv-controlled territory,” while an equal number of Ukrainian prisoners were released.

The large-scale exchange, initiated by the Russian side, is expected to continue, the ministry added.

The swap followed the exchange of 270 servicemen and 120 civilians from each side announced on Friday.

According to the Russian Defence Ministry, 270 Russian servicemen and 120 civilians returned from territory controlled by Kyiv, while an equal number of Ukrainian prisoners and civilians were freed in return.

The ministry stated that the freed Russian prisoners are currently in the Republic of Belarus, where they are receiving necessary psychological support and medical assistance.

Russia and Ukraine agreed to exchange 1,000 prisoners each after talks in Istanbul last week, marking the largest prisoner swap since the start of the conflict in 2022.
