Businesses in Joo Chiat are excited at the increased footfall, as thousands of residents filled the streets in the district’s first car-free day. Weekend traffic made way for crowds to take in performances, participate in activities and wander among the many shops in the community. This is the first time a car-free day is hosted in a neighbourhood; it was previously held around the Civic District and the CBD. Claudia Lim takes a look.
