Nigel Farage has said that the era of two-party politics is “finished” after Reform UK won control of a swathe of councils in a local election rout and ousted Labour in a by-election.
Reform won the biggest share of the vote in the local elections, the first time on record that a party other than Labour or the Conservatives has done so.
In the first major test of public opinion since last year’s general election Farage’s party took control of ten local authorities, won two mayoralties and defeated Labour in a by-election in Runcorn & Helsby by just six votes.
