LIVE: NASA and SpaceX monitor Crew-11 return as medical emergency cuts mission short

LIVE: For the first time in the 25-year history of the International Space Station, NASA is executing a “controlled medical evacuation” to return a crew to Earth early.

SpaceX’s Crew Dragon Endeavour is scheduled to undock from the Harmony module. The decision, announced by NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman, comes after a Crew-11 astronaut experienced a “serious medical condition” that requires diagnostic hardware only available on Earth. While the affected astronaut is in stable condition, NASA has moved the return date up from February to ensure the crew’s safety.
