Iraq is on the edge after a massive protest was witnessed on the streets of Baghdad on Wednesday. The supporters of former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki carried out a demonstration after US President Donald Trump warned Iraq against picking the Iranian-backed politician as the country’s next prime minister. The US leader said Washington would no longer help the major oil producer and close US ally if Maliki returns to the role. Trump’s comments are the starkest example yet of his campaign to curb the influence of Iran-linked groups in Iraq.
