President Trump is scheduled to meet Sir Keir Starmer on the second date of his UK state visit. Yesterday evening the King declared the US and the UK to be “the closest of kin” as he praised the special relationship between the two countries during President Trump’s state visit to Britain.

In a speech at the state banquet that had been shared with No 10 in advance, Charles, 76, said that after the first trade deal with the US, “we can go even further”.
In return, the US president said that the word “special” in the oft-described special relationship “does not begin to do it justice”.
Trump said that the UK and US were “like two notes in the same chord” that were “each beautiful on their own, but really meant to be played together”.
In his speech, the president also made a reference to free speech, an issue the White House has highlighted previously in the UK and Europe.
He said: “The British Empire laid the foundations of law, liberty, free speech, and individual rights virtually everywhere.”
Trump told the guests: “Seen from American eyes the word special does not begin to do it justice.”
He went on to say: “We’re joined by history and faith, by love and language and by transcendent ties of culture, tradition, ancestry and destiny.
