Conscription in the UK was abolished in 1963, but recently the government has been exploring how to rapidly expand the understrength regular army quickly. In this programme, I examine the ways the British Government can increase the size of the current army by mobilising two reserve organisations, and how conscription could be introduced and who would be drafted by looking at how conscription operated in the two world wars and during National Service in 1948-60.
