Iran deal dominates G7 Summit as leaders welcome breakthrough.

US President Donald Trump says a Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran has been signed electronically, with an in-person signing ceremony expected to take place in Geneva on Friday.

Speaking ahead of the G7 summit in France, Trump said Vice President JD Vance would attend the ceremony and added that the Strait of Hormuz is already beginning to reopen to shipping traffic.

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the agreement, calling it an important step toward addressing concerns over Iran’s nuclear programme and bringing greater stability to the Middle East.

France and the United Kingdom are now discussing an international maritime mission to help secure the Strait of Hormuz and reassure global shipping.

The agreement is expected to dominate discussions at the G7 summit, where leaders from several Middle Eastern countries, including Qatar, the UAE and Egypt, have also been invited.

Despite the diplomatic breakthrough, officials acknowledge that the situation remains fragile and that major challenges still lie ahead.
